Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2024
October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Take action to help keep your BECU accounts secure.
One of BECU's top priorities is keeping your money and information secure. To help protect your accounts, we provide 24/7 fraud monitoring, advanced encryption and a dedicated team of fraud and security experts.
You also play an important role in security. It doesn't have to be a full-time job — taking action only takes a few minutes.
Improve Your Account Security in 15 Minutes or Less
We recommend changing your password every few months. Choosing a unique password can help protect your personal information and sensitive data from thieves. Get tips for creating strong passwords.
In Online Banking, select Profile, Profile Settings, then Change Password.
BECU alerts provide timely text and email updates about your account activity. Setting up alerts can help you recognize suspicious transactions more quickly.
In Online Banking, select Profile, Profile Settings, then Alert Settings.
Keeping your contact information up to date ensures we can get in touch if we detect fraud or encounter another issue.
In Online Banking, select Profile, Profile Settings, then Change Email Address or Change Address/Telephone Number.
Protect Yourself from Scams and Fraud
Help us protect you by following cybersecurity best practices:
- Know what to expect when BECU communicates with you.
- Only use payment apps with people you know and trust.
- Watch out for social engineering scams that con victims into compromising their private information.
- Never share a one-time passcode (OTP) with someone who contacts you, even if they claim to be from BECU.
- Avoid using public Wi-Fi, unsecured websites and unverified apps.
