Recent Changes to Bill Pay in Online Banking

If you use BECU’s online Bill Pay, you may have noticed recent changes. In November, we implemented significant updates to the service to simplify payments, streamline features and provide a consistent experience across devices.

BECU's Bill Pay service provides an easy way for members to pay their bills online. The service was upgraded in November to simplify payments, streamline features and deliver a more modern experience with a new look that fits with other BECU digital banking services. 

About the Changes

The goal of the recent Bill Pay upgrade was to eliminate friction and make the service more intuitive for users. We made these changes in response to feedback from members that the previous version was too complicated and not easy to use on a mobile device. 

The new Bill Pay is a fully responsive, mobile-first solution that provides a simple, intuitive, and engaging experience for members on all devices. This next-generation Bill Pay service enables you to accomplish your payment-related tasks more easily and efficiently by: 

  • Delivering a consistent user experience with the same features on desktop, tablet and mobile devices. 
  • Providing relevant information and advice to actively support and guide you throughout the payment setup process and various related tasks. 
  • Making it easier to access active, recently paid billers—and highlighting unpaid bills and reminders. 
  • Helping you find existing billers quickly and prompting you to add a new biller when a search does not return a result. 
  • Allowing you to make multiple payments at once. 
  • Enabling you to conveniently see all billers and recent activity on the Pay Bills screen.

Members using desktop devices can switch back to the “classic” Bill Pay view for a limited time to help ease the transition.

Reorganized Layout

The visual look isn't the only thing that's different about the new Bill Pay experience. The content was also reorganized to help members get through the payment process more easily and seamlessly. These enhancements include:

  • All billers are now arranged by payment activity, making it easier for members to stay organized.
  • All previous payment activity is now conveniently located on the Activity tab.
  • Members can select and pay multiple billers at once.
  • Icons have been added within the interface to give members the information they need.

Ongoing Improvements

After the changes in November, we received feedback from members who regularly use the service, and we are working to integrate that feedback as quickly as possible. We appreciate the feedback from members, and we are working to integrate that feedback in ongoing updates to Bill Pay. An interactive help guide will be available for members in the Bill Pay portal after the next release on Feb. 16.

In the meantime, members will continue to have the option to switch back and forth between the new Bill Pay view and the classic view to help ease the transition while these efforts are underway.
