BECU Expands Financial Services to North Spokane Location
The third financial center in Spokane is expected to open in the fourth quarter of this year.
BECU, Washington's largest community credit union, today announced it will open its third location in Spokane on the corner of Newport Highway and Holland Avenue later this year.
“BECU has been an active part of the Spokane community for more than 10 years. As a member-owned credit union, we're focused on our members and communities first, and helping each other build strong financial foundations,” said Doug Marshall, BECU's senior vice president of retail. “Our new financial center and services will help us build upon these commitments as a community partner and local resource for financial education.”
Totaling 3,000 square feet, the financial center will join Spokane Division and Spokane Valley neighborhood financial centers in serving more than 6,300 members in Spokane County. Members can use all three convenient locations to establish accounts, apply for loans and perform financial transactions. The new location will also offer expanded mortgage services through a home loan center.
Consistent with BECU's operating model, the Spokane financial centers offer an innovative “tellerless” layout, while empowering members to access their accounts in ways most convenient for them, including mobile banking, online banking and ATMs. Member consultants are available to assist with these transactions, and provide one-on-one support for opening accounts and more complex services, such as mortgages, personal loans, auto loans and business services.
Building Stronger Communities
Last year, BECU put more than $3 million back into its communities through philanthropic giving and community programs, and expanded its support of the Spokane community. Examples of BECU support for Spokane-specific initiatives include:
- SNAP – BECU donated funds to the organization's Financial Counseling program, which helps residents of the greater Spokane area learn how to more effectively manage their money, as well as created the BECU SNAP Forward Grant to help local entrepreneurs and small businesses.
- Hearth Homes and Peak 7 Adventures – Recipients of the annual People Helping People Awards operating in Spokane that recognize the causes that BECU members support by awarding up to $180,000 to local non-profits they nominate.
- The Bright Promise Scholarship Program managed by Associated Industries – Along with Regence BlueShield/Asuris NW Health, BECU funds half-tuition scholarships for students at Eastern Washington University and the Community Colleges of Spokane for the 2017/2018 school year.
- Junior Achievement (JA) Washington – BECU supports JA Financial Literacy efforts in Spokane, building upon a longtime partnership with JA to deliver financial education programming to participating students.
